The moment was sweet — cute almost — when Larry Callahan first cast an eye across the country and saw Minneapolis winking back at him. Larry wasn't sure he was ready for another long term relationship; he'd only just left New York and could still feel the loss. Luckily, you can't stop true love.
Oh, the times they had! Shooting everything from candy bars to babies, electronics to jewelry, Larry and Minneapolis built a relationship on providing for one another and built Callahan & Co. Photography from a small studio in the Warehouse District to the place to be.
All relationships are somewhat torrid. The inevitable push and pull between wants and needs, truth and falsehoods, acquiescence and denial. When Minneapolis first brought up the subject of digital photography, Larry wasn't sure if he was ready. Could he really be a caring provider? Would it bring out the best in him? Like so many doubting fathers, the truth came out when Callahan & Co. went fully digital and Larry was there welcoming with open arms.
In the manner of all solid relationships, Larry and Minneapolis learned to smile over each other's faults, celebrate their joys and remain strong for over 30 years, providing not only the Minneapolis region, but the entire nation with high-quality commercial photography.
